Junior mechanical designer
Summary
The Junior Mechanical Designer is responsible for carrying out pre-engineering work (sketches, prototypes, testing, etc.), as well as creating drawings and 3D models for active projects within their discipline.
Roles and responsibilities
The mechanical concept to the responsible parties:
- Validate and test concepts (prototyping capability);
- Understanding the basics of part manufacturing processes;
- Conceptualizing mechanical systems;
- 3D modeling and basic experience in 2D technical drawings;
- Propose a selection of mechanical equipment (machines and conveyors) appropriate to the project's needs;
- Propose appropriate mechanical solutions for the execution of the project;
- Prepare the equipment layout plans;
- Under supervision, design custom parts and assemblies;
- Sign and seal engineering documents;
- Provide support for the installation of mechanical equipment at the customer's premises;
- Communication with other team members, internal and external;
Qualifications
The position requires the following qualifications:
- BAC in mechanical engineering, automated production or equivalent experience;
- Minimum of 1 years of experience.
- Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec;
- French and English functional.
- Good knowledge of mechanical systems in an industrial environment (robotic systems, conveyor lines and industrial equipment, experience in detailed design);
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical design software such as Solidworks and Autocad;
- Knowledge of machine safety methods and standards - an asset;
- Knowledge of industrial automation - an asset;
- Knowledge of various industries - an asset;
- A driver's license is an asset; the position may require travel.
- Good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
