Context
As part of an upgrade to its production line equipment, our client was seeking a solution capable of achieving a throughput of 29 boxes per minutes. The current palletizing / packaging system, including the existing robot, was unable to meet this performance target.Mandate
The mandate involved designing, validating, and deploying a high-speed robotic solution to replace the existing equipment. This solution was required to ensure the achievement and stabilization of the target performance for the new production line.
Task performed
o Development of a solution to reach a throughput of 29 boxes per minute.
o Design of a custom robotic cell.
o Modification of the PLC program to match the cell’s sequence.
o Programming of two robots.
o HMI updates to support operators during cell operation.
o Risk analysis and emplementation of appropriate safety measures.
o Accelerated support for on-site installation
o Commissioning of the equipment.
Solutions provided by PCI
To achieve the client’s target throughput, PCI proposed a robotic solution consisting of two robots quipped with suction cups. This setup enables the fast and precise handling of the client’s various box types.

o Simulation using FANUC ROBOGUIDE.
o Mechanical design using SOLIDWORKS
o Allen Bradley PLC programming
o Control panel design using SEE Electrical
