Designer-programmer

SUMMARY

The designer-programmer is responsible for programming PLCs, operator interfaces, robots and SCADA according to the directives of the client and the project manager. According to his experience, he participates in the design of the control system, functional analyzes, project documentation and training plans for the client.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The automation programmer has the following responsibilities:
  • Selection of control equipment appropriate to the needs of the project;
  • Preparation of a control architecture, main parts lists;
  • Preparation of PLC input / output lists;
  • Preparation of the evaluation of equipment costs, in collaboration with the project manager;
  • Programming of PLCs, operator interfaces, robots and SCADA;
  • Communication with other team members, internal and external;
  • Testing of programs before start-up at the customer;
  • Testing of control panels at the manufacturer
  • Supervision and support for the installation of the control system at the customer's premises;
  • Initiation of programs at the client;
  • Training of the customer's operators or technicians;
  • Support for production after start-up.

QUALIFICATIONS

The position requires the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in electrical engineering, automated production engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Member of the Order of Engineers - an asset

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

The position requires the following requirements:

  • Functional French and English;
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems;
  • Knowledge of machine safety methods and standards - an asset;
  • PLC programming;
  • Knowledge of SCADA software - an asset
  • Knowledge of various industries - an asset
  • Good interpersonal communication skills;
  • Good communicator and master of the art of teamwork;
  • Availability to travel abroad;
