OT Designer-programmer
Summary
The designer-programmer is responsible for configuring or programming PLCs, interface-operators, OT robot equipment and/or SCADA according to the instructions of the customer and the project manager. According to his experience, he participates in the design of the control system, functional analyses, project documentation and training plans at the client's premises.
Responsibility
The automation programmer has the following responsibilities:
- Selection of control equipment appropriate to the needs of the project;
- Preparation of a control architecture, lists of main parts;
- Preparation of input/output lists and other technical documents;
- Preparation of the evaluation of equipment costs, in collaboration with the project manager;
- Configuration / Programming of PLCs, interface-operators, robots, SCADA and OT equipment;
- Communication with other team members, internal and external;
- Application of cybersecurity best practices;
- Testing of programs before start-up at the customer's premises;
- Testing of control panels at the manufacturer's premises;
- Supervision and support for the installation of the control system at the customer's premises;
- Implementation of programs at the customer's premises;
- Training of the customer's operators or technicians;
- Production support after start-up.
The position requires the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in electrical engineering, automated production engineering or equivalent experience.
- Member of the Order of Engineers – an asset

- Functional French and English;
- Be sensitive to documentation needs;
- Knowledge of industrial control systems;
- PLC programming;
- Knowledge of SCADA software – an asset
- Knowledge of diverse industries – an asset
- Knowledge of industrial network equipment (switches, routers and firewalls) – an asset;
- Knowledge of ESXI virtual environments – an asset;
- Knowledge of historization technologies – an asset;
- Knowledge of the cybersecurity standard ISA62443 – an asset;
- Knowledge of machine safety methods and standards – an asset;
- Good interpersonal communication skills;
- Good communicator and past master in the art of working in a team;
- Availability to travel abroad.
